Say “Hola” to Healthy Snacking
August 1st, 2007
Now you can indulge yourself at your next fiesta and gain a few of the same healthy components found in berries and red wine. The next time you visit your local Mexican restaurant, you might notice a change in the chips. A new study, straight from the home of the tortilla chip, shows that these blue colored tortilla chips contain 20% more protien than the average corn chip. They also have less starch and a lower Glycemic Index (GI), which is helpful to dieters and those with diabetes.
Remember to keep in mind, as with all of your favorite snacks, moderation is key. However, a small bowl of fresh salsa and a few blue tortilla chips makes a great way to sneak in a serving of vegetables and a healthy snack. ¡Perfeccione la excusa al bocado!
